Does the Egg Float or Sink in Different Water Types?
In this experiment we will figure out if an egg will float in salt water or tap water. To start you need to have some materials. You will need two bowls, two eggs, tap water, and a couple of tablespoons of salt. Then you will start to fill two bowls with tap water. Then in one of the bowls add a couple of taplespoons to it. Then you will set an egg in each bowl. The independent variable in this experiment is the amount of salt you used in each bowl and the dependant variable is whether or not the egg will sink or float. Then you will come to the conclusion that the egg floats in the salt water bowl because the salt water is heavier than the tap water. When it was set in there it started to float because it didn't have to make space for itself and push away water from it like it would have to do in the tap water. It was a good experiment because it explained the difference that tap water and salt water had on the floatation of an egg. The experiment could be improved by doing a couple more trials.

ReplyDeleteinteresting experiment that you can perform at home but NOT a current event about an actual experiment that was conducted to test a hypothesis.
