Tamiflu the primary flu fighting drug has been found in surface water areas. The birds that use the ponds and lakes such as ducks and geese usually carry the flu virus and scientist worry that with exposure to the drug may lead to a resistance against the drug. in the experiment a group of Japanese scientist studied three rivers in Japan which they found had the drug in the water. In the experiment the IV is the drug and the DV is the affect of the drug on the birds and us. The conclusion is that the drug is coming from sewage plants and can have huge effects on birds and us. An example if a bird drinks water with the drug in it the bird may fight off some types of the flu but the virus will adapt creating new types of flues that drug wont be able to cure. This would result in many new types of the flu. This experiment could be improved by doing more trials and examining more water areas. A follow up experiment could be to isolate a few birds and expose the to the drug and see the long term affects and if the birds make news kinds of the flu.
